We may be waiting for the final results of the 2024 election BUT we want to take a moment to Celebrate and Thank all of the LWV Northern Arizona members who registered voters, who worked on candidate forums, and participated in statewide VOTE411 activities. Let’s share our stories! Here is one story to share with you as you MARK YOUR CALENDAR to join us on November 7!
From League member Babe Gerstner: Here is my story as a part of the voter registration team: My friends and I set up a voter registration table up in the Cottonwood area 3 times a week for 3 or 4 months. During that time, we registered about 30 people, answered 100s of voter questions and gave out hundreds of the LWV important voter information cards plus several cards with the URL to register to vote with on your phone.
We enjoyed socializing with each other and those who stopped by the table. One day a lady and her 17-year-old daughter stopped by wondering when her daughter could register to vote. We told her about needing to be 18 before the election. They both started smiling and the mother said the daughter would be 18 on the 22nd of October. The daughter totally enjoyed registering to vote with us and took the card with the URL code for her friends. I very much enjoyed meeting the public and giving out information for voting.
And we want to thank voters for turning out to make sure their voices were heard. And we owe huge gratitude to the people who made our elections run: the poll workers, election officials, election observers, postal workers, and volunteers. DEMOCRACY is a beautiful thing it is!
🗳️ We Vote. And⏲️ We may wait. But🎉We can celebrate Democracy!
